How to Replace a Car Mirror
A car mirror is a feature of a small vehicle (the car is the smallest) that helps you see what is behind you in traffic. The importance of the mirror cannot be overlooked: drivers often have blind spots. While they are driving forward and can see clearly what lies ahead, they are utterly helpless when it comes to the vehicles behind them. A vehicle could pull out of one lane and enter another; another driver, pulling out at the same time, could create an accident that he or she never meant to start. Mirrors are the eyes of a vehicle when drivers cannot utilize their sight at full capacity. It is crucial to have a well-functioning mirror for your vehicle when driving. The following steps will teach you how to replace your car mirror before hitting the road.
The first step to achieve a car mirror replacement is to remove the door panel. Put your fingers behind the door panel, unhook the inside of the panel (rods and connector), pull out the clips, and remove it from the door itself. The connector clips come in different colors and are easy to remove from the door panel. Next, unloose the screws behind the panel with a ratchet. Remove the screws and bolts from behind the panel with a ratchet and stick them in a place where you can find them later. Next, hold the car mirror glass and untangle the wire connected to the mirror, slide it through the panel door hole where the mirror is normally positioned.
Once you remove the old mirror from its place, you want to put a new mirror in the door panel. To install a new one, you will first need to gather some supplies: a Phillips screwdriver, and a 6 & 11 millimeter socket ratchet and extension. Once you have these, take the new mirror, slide it through the location the old one was in and connect the mirror wire to the door panel connectors. Before you connect the wires, however, you need to work the very back of the mirror into its place. There is a piece in the side of the car door that must be pressed in before you attempt to place the screwdrivers back in their original positions. Press down on the back side of the mirror (the side facing the steering wheel). Use your Phillips screwdriver to put each screw firmly back in its place. Connect the mirror wire with the door panel, connect the door panel wires back into their respective places on the panel itself, and press firmly. Once you double check the door to see if all screws are back in position and holding firmly (and the door is firmly installed), you are ready to drive again.
Car mirror charms are often hung from rearview mirrors for many reasons. Some drivers hang charms from their mirrors because of a certain scent it delivers. Perhaps the charm provides a potpourri smell that rids the car of odors such as cigarette smoke or a damp rain smell—if perhaps your car experienced the rain when you left the window open. Some people hang charms from their rearview mirrors because they think the items are beautiful. One may hang two dice from their mirror because they like to gamble, or they like the color red, or the dice remind them of the game “Monopoly.” Other types of mirror charms are dollar potpourris that come in the shape of a dollar sign ($) for the purpose of providing a lovely scent for the vehicle. A teacher may have an apple dangling from her rearview mirror, while a nurse may have a small toy nursing kit dangling from her mirror to show that she is a nurse. The “peace” sign or religious symbols such as crosses and other religious paraphernalia often hang in rearview mirrors. Some people like to decorate their rearview mirrors and place keychains and little figurines from special vacations in order to reminisce about the time they had while away. Cartoon characters, flower samples, and other items are given prominence in rearview mirrors because of the various interests of human beings.
A Honda mirror is a small glass instrument that helps Honda drivers see behind them when driving on the open road. There are mirrors for the Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, and other Honda models. A cartoon mirror is a source for viewing items and objects within a given vicinity that comes in the shape of a cartoon character, item, or object. Cartoon glass is ideal for someone who loves cartoons and wants everyone to know how much he or she likes a certain cartoon. The mirror often contains cartoon characters or events that lie in the mirror itself. Examples of cartoon mirrors are mirrors that have Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and friends in the mirror itself. Another mirror could feature the “Wicked Witch of the West” with her viewing a crystal ball through which she can see Dorothy (“Wizard of Oz”). Cartoon mirrors add to your creative, personal expression while still providing the utility of car mirrors.
You can replace your vehicle mirror by following some easy steps. Mirrors, however, serve more of a purpose than just enhancing your blind spot vision; rather, they also help you express yourself by hanging a conviction, a belief, a dream, or a goal (the item symbolic of the dream, goal, or belief). The next time you prepare to get on the road, stop and take a look at the essential car mirror to your left and right.
